While fans and media pundits continue to speculate about where forward Carmelo Anthony will play next season, a more informed source weighed in on the topic Sunday night.
La La Anthony, Carmelo's wife, said on Bravo TV's "Watch What Happens Live" that she expects her husband to remain with the New York Knicks.
"I definitely think he will stay. I know that he wants to stay," said La La Anthony, a television personality. "I will support him wherever he wants to play. I used to live in Denver with him. If I can live in Denver, I can live anywhere. I just want him to be happy. ...
"I get blamed for everything. No matter what happens, it's my fault. All these talks if he's staying in New York or not, I'm somehow the mastermind behind if he stays or not."
Carmelo Anthony, 29, is expected to opt out of the final season of his contract to hit the free agent market this summer. The couple owns a home in Los Angeles, and La La Anthony's television connections led to speculation that the Lakers could be a destination for her husband.
At the halfway point of the current season, Carmelo Anthony is averaging 27.2 points, 9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. His scoring average ranks second in the NBA behind the Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant's 31.1 average.
Last Friday, Anthony set a Knicks single-game record with 62 points against the Charlotte Bobcats.
