The New England Patriots signed defensive back Jemea Thomas, a sixth-round pick out of Georgia Tech, to a four-year deal on Sunday.

The agents for Thomas confirmed the agreement.

Thomas can play slot or outside cornerback or safety.

"He's smart, he runs well, he's a tough kid, he's a good tackler," coach Bill Belichick told WEEI. "I think that there's definitely a place defensively to have a player like that."

With Thomas signed, first-round defensive tackle Dominique Easley, second-round quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, fourth-round center Bryan Stork and sixth-round guard Jon Halapio are the Patriots draftees without signed deals.
