Football were flying through the air Friday night when New England and Philadelphia combined for eight touchdown passes in the Patriots' 42-35 preseason victory in Foxborough, Mass.
Starters Tom Brady of New England and Nick Foles of Philadelphia threw one scoring pass each for their respective teams in limited action.
Mark Sanchez, who is competing with Matt Barkley for the Eagles' backup quarterback job, connected on 11 of 12 passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Barkley finished 9 of 12 for 132 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Patriots rookie quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had two touchdown passes, completing 6 of 12 passes for 72 yards, and Ryan Mallett was 7 of 11 for 92 yards and one touchdown.
Brady was on target after throwing a pick-six on the Patriots' opening drive. Eagles cornerback Cary Williams returned the interception 77 yards for a touchdown and then left the game with a hamstring injury.
Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews caught nine passes for 104 yards and running back Henry Josey rushed for 65 yards on eight carries. Running back Jonas Gray led the Patriots on the ground with 98 yards on 12 carries.
