Teacher With Leukemia Heads Home For Recovery

RED BLUFF, Calif. - A well known Red Bluff High School teacher who's been battling leukemia is now back home and recovering in the Northstate.

Betsy Palubeski has been away from her home for months. She's been with her husband Joe, in southern California, where she was undergoing treatment.

Her successful treatment is all thanks to Betsy's brother, who ended up being a perfect match for a bone marrow transplant. Betsy was finally able to come home Tuesday after undergoing the treatment.

Both she and her husband Joe have taught at Red Bluff High School for about 20 years.  Betsy teaches Spanish and French.

The couple has two sons: one who is actually a student at the high school right now and another at Chico State.

Her goal is to be back teaching by next fall.
