Toddler recovering from rattlesnake bite

SHASTA LAKE, Calif. - A Shasta County toddler is recovering after he was bit by a rattlesnake.

Colton Selig, 2, was bit by the snake Tuesday around 3 p.m. near Union School Road in the City of Shasta Lake.

The snake left a puncture wound on the boy's finger.  According to the Shasta Lake Fire Department, the boy's family took him to the community health center in Shasta Lake.  Doctors there called medics and he was taken to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance.

Colton was later transferred by helicopter to U.C. Davis Medical in Sacramento.  Wednesday morning he was listed in fair condition.

Colton's mother said he's doing well and he could be released from the hospital Wednesday night.
