REDDING, Calif. - People around the country can start applying for health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace in 12 days.
It's all part of the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare as many have called it.
The enrollment date starts October 1st and closes on March 31, 2014.
Starting January 1, 2014, ACA requires most individuals to obtain health insurance for themselves and family members or pay a fine.
It's the reason why the League of Women Voters of the Redding area hosted a town hall meeting at the Shasta County Supervisors Chambers, Thursday night.
More than 100 people sat in to listen to a panel of health care, insurance, and public officials.
Experts talked about insurance prices, benefits, and the possible dangers of buying insurance.
Folks were also briefed on Covered California, which is a state sponsored group that claims to offer affordable, high-quality health insurance.
