Traffic Stop Uncovers Drugs, $13,600 in Cash

LEWISTON, Calif. - A New Mexico man was arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop in Trinity County.

Jaime Francisco Guerrero, 51 of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was arrested Saturday night.

The Trinity County Sheriff's Office said the CHP conducted a traffic stop at 8:30 p.m. On Highway 299 near Fawn Lodge.  The officer requested a K-9 unit from the sheriff's office.

The K-9 alerted on two different controlled substances which are believed to be heroin and cocaine.  The dog also alerted on a possible third controlled substance which was a liquid mixed with methamphetamine.  They also recovered $13,600 in cash.

Two juveniles traveling with Guerrero were also arrested.  Guerrero faces a series of charges including importing, selling and furnishing a controlled substance, and child endangerment.
