Turtle Bay log cars being redone

REDDING, Calif. - A key piece of Turtle Bay Exploration Park is getting a new look thanks to a grant awarded by the Sierra Pacific Foundation.

The log cars in the Shay Locomotive Display will be getting an upgrade because the wood has been deteriorating for some time.

Sierra Pacific is helping to preserve the historical logging heritage by offering the grant.

The log cars were used in the Lamoine area and are on loan to Turtle Bay from the Shasta Trinity National Forest.

The Shay Locomotive #2 was a gift to Turtle Bay from Sierra Pacific and is the oldest known surviving Shay Locomotive in the world.
