Two arrested in Chico for vehicle burglaries

CHICO, Calif. - Two people were arrested in Chico on charges of possession of stolen property.

On Sept. 26, Chico police responded to a vehicle burglary that happened on Springfield Court in south Chico.

During the burglary, suspects had broken a car window to steal a wallet, then attempted to use the victim's credit cards at a Chico business. The attempted transaction was captured using video surveillance, which helped police find a suspect -- 25-year-old Fransisco Quintero.

On Tuesday, an officer was conducting surveillance on Quintero's car when he saw Quintero and a woman approaching the vehicle. Recognizing the woman from the surveillance video, the officer took both of them into custody.

During a search of them and the car, the woman, 23-year-old Amber Yanez, was found to have stolen property from a car burglary that had happened that morning. She also was in possession of methamphetamine and needles. Officers also recovered a tool used to break glass.

Yanez was arrested and booked at the Butte County Jail on charges of possession of stolen property, methamphetamine and needles.

Quintero was arrested and booked on charges of possession of stolen property.
