Update: Early Morning Fire Leaves One Person Dead

PALERMO, Calif. - One person was killed in an early morning house fire just south of Oroville in the community of Palermo.

Firefighters received multiple reports of a trailer on fire at 3:38 a.m. Sunday.  They responded to the burning home 2847 S. Villa Avenue.

The double-wide trailer was consumed in flames.  The cause remains under investigation.  Damage was estimated at $30,000.

Firefighers told KRCR News Channel 7 a man in his 20's was killed in the blaze.  The man's stepfather survived.  Two dogs were also killed in the fire, and three dogs are unaccounted for.

The name of the person killed was not released, pending the notification of next of kin.
