BIGGS, Calif. - One person is dead after a head-on crash on Highway 99 in Butte County. The crash closed the highway for more than 5 hours.
The crash happened at about 5:15 p.m. Friday afternoon just north of W. Rio Bonito Rd. near Biggs. The Highway reopened just before 10:30 p.m.
CHP officials said a utility truck pulling a trailer was headed northbound an crossed the center line into the path of a a Honda Civic. The Civic was then rear-ended by a Ford Mustang.
The driver of the Civic was killed and the truck driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The two men in the Mustang were not hurt.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
This is the third fatal crash in Butte County this week.
