Vegetation fire burns Native American cemetery

CITY OF SHASTA LAKE, Calif. - Firefighters in the City of Shasta Lake were called to a vegetation fire burning in a Native American cemetery.

The fire was reported around 5 p.m. Monday at the cemetery at the end of Boca Street in the City of Shasta Lake.

The fire burned just under one acre before it was contained.

The cause is still under investigation. 

Firefighters were being especially careful around the grave sites, trying not to disturb the burial sites.  They took a very careful approach, adjusting the intensity of the water pressure they used.
