Woman Arrested in Murder for Hire Plot

ANDERSON, Calif. - An alleged murder for hire plot has landed an Anderson woman behind bars. On Monday, detectives arrested Angela O'Regan, 55.

Anderson Police said O'Regan was taken into custody after police learned about her involvement in plotting and soliciting the murder for hire of a family member. The intended target was never harmed and his/her name is being withheld due to the nature of the ongoing investigation.

Investigators said O'Regan may have been motivated by the wishes of other associated family members and child custody issues.

Detectives from the Anderson Police Department learned about O'Regan's alleged scheme on Sunday, after receiving a telephone call from Chico Police who had received initial information from witnesses regarding this case.  Audio and electronic evidence was located and seized by detectives.  Police said the firearm that was to be used to kill the target was also recovered.

During an interview with Angela O'Regan, she made confessions to officers.  Angela O'Regan was booked into the Shasta County Jail on attempted solicitation of murder for hire charges.
