Consumer Egg-Safety Essentials
Wright County Egg of Galt, Iowa has issued a voluntary recall of some 380 million eggs. We have received a number of calls for more information about how to check your eggs to see if they're affected and where to go for more information.Here are some resources:
- If you are looking for a quick reference sheet for which cartons of eggs are affected by the recent recalls, an updated page is provided here.
- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has posted its press information on the two Wright County Egg recalls here (expanded recall) and here (original recall).
- The FDA has also posted press information on the third Hillandale Farms recall here.
- If you're looking for a more consumer-friendly experience, the FDA recommends you look at eggsafety.org. That's the site that provides the list featured above.
- In addition, the national Centers for Disease Control has posted tips that reduce your risk of contracting a Salmonella infection from eggs.
