Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods to sparkle this holiday

Diamond jewelry donated to organization to be auctioned off

EUREKA, Calif. - The Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods has a little more sparkle and shine this holiday season.

More than $10,000.00 worth of diamond jewelry has been donated to the organization and is being auctioned off to benefit the youth served by all of the programs the Club provides.

"We are so fortunate to live in such a giving community. Our motto states ‘Great Futures Start Here,' and we aim to deliver this to as many Humboldt County youth as possible. The generosity from the community is the chief way we are able to achieve this goal. The holidays can be a very magical time for children or a devastating one. Thanks to the incredible generosity of a local diamond collector, we have been given the opportunity to make the holidays shine brighter this season, using 100% of the monies we raise from these gems to provide increased opportunities for our youth," Executive Director Liz Smith said.

Other businesses and individuals have stepped up this month as well to help ensure all Boys & Girls Club youth members have gifts this holiday season including Leon's Car Care Center, Scrapper's Edge, Pierson Building Center, Living Styles Furniture & Mattress Showroom, US Bank-Henderson Center and Old Town, and Bank of America-Henderson Center.

In addition, Danco Builders will host a holiday party for nearly 100 elementary-aged Club members later this month, this year's Truckers Christmas Parade will benefit the Eureka Teen Center, and the Humboldt County Association of Realtors will donate toys to Club members.
