Fortuna Police Department introduces new school resource officer

FORTUNA, Calif. - The city of Fortuna's Police Department (FPD) is proud to introduce Lindsey Frank as the new school resource officer (SRO). Officer Frank is an experienced police officer with over nine years of experience in law enforcement.

Officer Frank will service schools throughout the Eel River Valley area including communities of Fortuna, Rio Dell, Scotia, Hydesville, Carlotta, Ferndale and Loleta.

In 2012, the SRO position was eliminated due to budget constraints. The award of $145,580 in Measure Z funds to FPD was necessary to bring the position back.

The SRO serves as a resource to students, parents and staff by taking lead on programs to improve student behavior and attendance in schools. They will also work with the school attendance review board to discuss truancy issues while participating in school events targeting engagement with students.

School starts this Monday, August 14, at Fortuna Union High School.
