MAD RIVER, Calif. - An undisclosed amount of marijuana was stolen from a Mad River property Monday morning by a trimmer who was angry for not being paid, according to the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office (HCSO).
On Nov. 6 at around 6:30 a.m., four deputies and a sergeant responded to the County Line Creek Road area of Mad River for a report of a marijuana theft in progress, HCSO said.
Authorities said it was reported that the person watching the property had been hit on the head and suspects were actively stealing marijuana.
HCSO said once on-scene, deputies were told that a trimmer was upset about not getting paid and arrived on the property with several subjects, one of whom was armed with a baseball bat.
An unknown amount of marijuana was stolen and the suspects left the scene, deputies said. The reporting party declined to cooperate with the investigation.
"These type[s] of incidents are becoming more commonplace and are straining our limited resources," a press release from the HCSO said.
