Deputies investigating homicide


Two individuals have been arrested for the homicide of Richard Falk, who was found dead from gunshot wounds in his home on Oct. 6, according to Humboldt County sheriff's deputies. On Monday, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) in conjunction with the Arcata Police Department detained and later arrested one male and one female juvenile for the homicide of Richard Falk.

This case is still under investigation.


HCSO is investigating a homicide that they said occurred Oct. 6 in the Buck Mountain area, which is near Dinsmore off Highway 36.

According to deputies, at around 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 6 HCSO received a report of a possible homicide, and upon arrival they located a deceased 68-year-old man who they identified as Richard Dennis Falk.

Officials said they found Falk deceased outside his home, and that an autopsy performed Thursday, Oct. 12 concluded that he had died of gunshot wounds.

This case is currently under investigation as a homicide and anyone with information is asked to contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251.
