Police searching for man who assaulted an officer in Crescent City

CRESCENT CITY, Calif. -

The Crescent City Police Department is searching for a man who punched an officer several times in the face and then ran away. 

Early Monday morning, a Crescent City Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a man riding a bike, later identified as 27-year-old Brent Daniel Morrision, according to the Crescent City Police Department. 

The officer said Morrison appeared to be under the influence and had given a false name. The officer attempted to detain Morrison and was punched in the face several times before Morrison ran away, according to officials.

Morrison is wanted for felony resisting with force and battery on a peace officer.  The officer was not injured during the incident.
