There are several school closures throughout the North Coast due to the unhealthy air quality.
According to the Trinity County Office of Education, the Douglas City Elementary School District, Junction City Elementary School District, Burnt Ranch Elementary School District and Trinity Alps Unified School District has canceled school for Tuesday, September 5.
According to the Klamath-Trinity Joint Unified School District, due to the hazardous smoke conditions school has been canceled for Tuesday, September 5. This affects Hoopa Valley High School, Hoopa Valley Elementary School, Trinity Valley Elementary School, Orleans Elementary School, Weitchpec Yurok Magnet/Elementary School, Jack Norton Elementary School and Captain John Continuation High School.
There are currently no school closures in place for the Del Norte County Unified School District. Officials said all Del Norte County schools will remain open, and all district transportation will also continue to operate as normally scheduled, unless emergency conditions develop, such as imminent fire danger, evacuations or if the air quality worsens.
