HOPLAND, Calif. - Three firefighters suffered minor injuries after a vegetation fire started in Hopland Tuesday, according to officials. CAL FIRE Mendocino Unit said it has now grown to 142 acres.
Officials said the fire started off of Highway 101 at around 12:40 p.m. on Sept. 19, across from Crawford Ranch Road. CAL FIRE said it is 80 percent contained and the cause is under investigation.
According to CAL FIRE Public Information Officer Tricia Austin, crews have been on scene throughout the night and will be there the rest of the day strengthening containment lines. Austin said there were three minor injuries reported. All three firefighters have been treated and are back to work.
But officials said the scattered showers today are helping fire crews. There are currently 123 firefighters on scene.
The responding agencies include CALFIRE, Hopland Fire, Ukiah Fire, Redwood Valley Fire, CHP and CAL TRANS.
