A Chico man was arrested Friday after a day-long manhunt. Harry Thomas Akerson, 27, who reportedly shot his father in the head Thursday was apprehended on Mono Avenue in Oroville by Butte County Deputies.
According to Lt. Dave Britt of the Chico Police Department, cops located Akerson's vehicle at the Joshua Tree Apartments off East Lassen Avenue in Chico.
Akerson was wanted by police for allegedly shooting his father. Neighbors reported hearing the men yelling before the shooting happened. The father, 50-year-old Harry Tapp, was shot with a handgun. Officers found Tapp outside the apartment building bleeding.
Tapp was taken to Enloe Medical Center where he underwent surgery
