Mike and his family have roots that grow deep into the red clay of the Northstate, and he deeply cares for its people. He grew up in Redding, graduating from St. Joseph Elementary School and Shasta High School. Then it was on to California State University Chico to earn a broadcasting degree.
He has been a part of KRCR since 1975, first as an intern while attending Chico State, then living and working in Chico as a Bureau reporter, before returning to Redding as a News Anchor and reporter. Then he began a stretch of more than 20 years as Sports Director, during which time he was voted in to the Shasta High School, Shasta College and Shasta County Sports Halls of Fame. Now he brings his experience to the set as a News Anchor.
Mike has been married to his wife Lindy since 1979, is the proud father of three children: Jacob, Andy and Michaela, and just as proud of his grandsons Coby and Joe.
Also an ordained Deacon, Mike is committed to serving the community through his ministry at St. Joseph parish. He also serves on the Shasta Community Health Center Board of Directors, the Advisory Board of Northern Valley Catholic Social Service, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Redding and the Shasta County Citizens Against Racism (SCCAR).
He enjoys jogging, cycling, swimming, golfing, reading, working around the house, and spending time with his family.
His two main goals are to personally meet every KRCR News Channel 7 viewer, and now that his beloved San Francisco Giants have won a World Series, Mike says, “Now I can die a happy man.”
