A Break From Severe Weather for the NorthState Tomorrow, More Rain on the Way Tuesday

Finally a quiet weather day moving in tomorrow, but it will be short lived, another strong system moves in for Tuesday.

After an insane amount of rain pounding the NorthState, we’ll get a short break from the rain tomorrow.  The day will start sunny and end cloudy as more and more clouds move in off the ocean as a harbinger of what’s coming on Tuesday.  We’ll see another several bands of rain move through with another system moving onshore which could net up to an additional 6 inches of rain Tuesday into Wednesday in choice areas North and West of Redding.  The mountains East of Chico could see an additional 4 inches of rain.  Needless to say, this additional rain could push already swollen streams over the edge and may induce additional mud and debris slides as the ground is already so saturated from this previous storm system.  The good news is that the winds don’t look like they’ll be much of an issue.  If there are any gusty winds they will be imbedded in the bands of heavier rain but won’t be anywhere near as strong as this past storm, or as widespread.

After Wednesday things go back to the beautiful NorthState weather that we know and love.  Wednesday afternoon the clouds will clear from Northwest to Southeast and will leave us with partly cloudy skies through Sunday.  Temperatures will remain cool as the high pressure moving in is arctic in nature, and won’t have much warm air in it.
