Another beautiful December day in Northern California, sun and warmth hangs around.

Temps will peak in the low to mid 60’s across the NorthState.  They will peak close to 65 in the valley, and will range to as low as 48 in portions of the mountains and highest elevations to the North and East.  With sunny skies it will be a fantastic day for Christmas tree hunting or shopping.  Tonight a low will drop to our East, which along with the high to our west, will start to kick up the winds out of the North.  That will start up around mid afternoon today and will peak tomorrow in the late morning to early afternoon.  We could see gusts up to 25 mph in the valley.

Later in the week, we have more of the same.  The high off the coast will hang up there allowing us to just see periodic clouds, but will stay dry.  Temps will rise to near 70 degrees on Monday, but won’t stay there long as cooler systems move in from the Gulf of Alaska.  Our next chance of rain comes next Wednesday as the models are forecasting a deep trough to move onshore.  The axis of this trough (as of last model run) will move through the Sacramento area, bringing the possibility of thunderstorms.  We’ll keep a close eye on this system as thing develop.
