Another Beautiful Day, Clouds and Rain Showers Move In This Weekend.

Redding, Red Bluff, Chico

POSTED: 6:23 AM Jan 04 2013

One last beautiful day before clouds and rain move in overnight into Saturday morning.

Mostly clear skies today will allow the temperatures to rise back into the mid 50s in the valley.  There will be a thin film of clouds overhead which will inhibit the full potential of the sun, but it’ll still be a beautiful day.  Tomorrow things take a change for the cloudy as a system starts to move in off the ocean.  The thing with this system moving in is the clouds will act as a blanket and will keep the cooler temperatures in for tomorrow.  With the cold temps near the surface, snow levels will be relatively low once the rain moves in.  Expect rain to start somewhere around noon and end in the late evening to early nighttime hours.

On Sunday we’ll see another system move through which will have more moisture with it and will be colder as well.  The cooler temps will lower the snow levels down to near 1000 feet and could result in some snow mixed with the rain in Redding and the City of Shasta Lake.  In the mountains on either side of the Sacramento Valley elevations above 3,000 feet could pick up around 4 inches of snow.  Rain and snow will end around 11pm Sunday night, and clouds will start to clear out for Monday.

From Monday on, the mostly sunny skies will return for next week.  We’ll be under the influence of a “dirty ridge” which will allow clouds to fly overhead through the clear skies, but will never be completely overcast.
