Another Strong System Moves Through Tonigh, Heavy Rain and Wind
Redding, Red Bluff, Chico
Heavy rain and strong winds moving in for tonight, several areas could see 10 more inches of rain tonight.
The last storm of the system will move through tonight bringing heavy rains and gusty winds to much of northern California. This system will really get into the swing of things tonight around 10pm and won’t stop until the mid morning hours tomorrow. Some areas in the mountains could see up to an additional 10 inches of rain out of this system. That said, flooding is a very real danger as streams and rivers are already swollen from the past few day’s rain. The winds will continue to mix things up as well as the soil will be saturated from all the rain and could be susceptible to toppling due to the force of the winds overnight.
The good news is we will end the rain in the afternoon hours tomorrow. We’ll periodically break out of the clouds throughout the day tomorrow but most importantly, will get a break from the rain tomorrow afternoon. The rain holds off through Monday as another system will begin to move onshore for Tuesday. That system will be very weak compared to what we have seen recently, but it will add up to another ½ an inch of rain to the incredible amounts we’ve already seen. We’ll keep you updated as things develop.
