Clouds and Showers for the Weekend, Much Wetter Weather Coming Tuesday and Wednesday
Redding, Red Bluff, Chico
Waking up with lots of clouds to the west, but not too much rain is associated with this system.
Another very weak cold front will pass overhead today. This will be very similar to Thursday’s front with lots of clouds but not much rain. Tonight into tomorrow morning has the best chance of seeing any rain, most of which will stay in the mountains. Any rain that makes it to the valley floor will be very spotty and very light stuff. The clouds overhead won’t dampen the temperatures too much though. We’ll see highs peaking in the mid to upper 60s today, with a few areas hitting 70 again.
The clouds remain overhead through Sunday but will clear by evening, leaving another beautiful sunny day for Monday. But a much more potent storm is on the horizon. We’ve been looking for the rain and it seems like this system could drop as much as 1 inch of rain in the valley. That stronger system will move through Tuesday into Wednesday with the heaviest rain falling on Wednesday. This will be a three part system as one wave moves in off the ocean on Tuesday, with a short break overnight, then more rain for Wednesday and the possibility for some isolated thunderstorms for Thursday.
With the clouds and rain we will be correspondingly cooler, but once that storm moves out, temperatures will jump back to where they were before – mid to upper 60s with lots of sunshine.
