Rain and Snow Showers Spreading East, Flurries Possible in the Northern Valley, Sun Returns Sunday
Redding, Red Bluff, Chico
Clouds today could produce sprinkles and flurries in Shasta and Trinity Counties, sun returns on Sunday.
A storm system will miss us to our west today and Saturday throwing just enough moisture back our way to give us some rain and snow showers. Those showers will be mainly in the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, the City of Shasta Lake, Redding, Anderson, and Cottonwood are the most likely to see any flurries. The snow in the valley won’t amount to much of anything, a few bushes may see some flakes stick, but accumulations will only happen in the mountains, and even those will be very light. We expect at the most 1-2 inches for parts of the mountains to the north around Mt. Shasta and to the east in the Burney area.
Saturday the clouds start to clear but will hang around through the morning. By 5pm almost all the clouds should be gone and that will set us up for a beautiful Sunday. We won’t see temperatures jump like we’ve seen before, but 51 degrees with sunshine will nonetheless feel amazing. Further into the week, New Years Day is turning out to be the gem of the week. We’ll have temperatures in the mid 50’s with sunny skies, be safe and have fun celebrating!
