Weather Forecast: A Few Mountain Showers Today, More Rain Thursday

Redding, Chico & Red Bluff

POSTED: 10:02 AM Feb 05 2013

A weakening cold front will bring clouds and a few mountain showers to the Northstate today.  A stronger cold front will bring valley rain and lowering snow levels by Thursday.

Initial cold front is pushing through the Northstate today.  Moisture tap is extremely low and mountain showers will stay widely scattered to isolated.

Wednesday the entire Northstate will stay quiet, in between the two cold fronts.

The next cold front will approach the Northstate late Wednesday night.  Trinity and Siskiyou county will be the first to see the precipitation early Thursday morning.  Much colder air will also be on tap with this system.  We're expecting snow levels as low as 2000ft with minor accumulations possible.  Higher accumulations will occur in the more favorable up-slope locations and elevations above 6000ft.

Friday cold unstable air aloft will be in place so the opportunity for some thunderstorms will be present in the afternoon hours.
