Weather Forecast: Above Normal Highs Through The Weekend
Redding, Chico & Red Bluff
After a chilly start the Norstate will begin to warm up this afternoon. For locations in the northern tip of the valley look for highs in the upper 60s. Areas near Chico will remain in the upper 50s.
The ridge of high pressure remains locked in place today through next Tuesday. This big dome of high pressure has also been responsible for the very strong inversion the last few days. Several locations in the foothills and slopes of mountains stayed 10 degrees or more warmer than the valley.
The northerly winds will help to break the inversion from about Cottonwood, north to Redding. That is why these locations have seen highs nearly 10 degrees warmer than Red Bluff and Chico the last few days.
The ridge will take a hit from a weak clipper front on Wednesday. The forecast models still seem a little optimistic about mountain precipitation but fairly dry for the most part for the valley.
