This morning's cold front continues to track east and behind it, colder, unstable air filters into the Northstate.  With daytime heating from clearing skies, thunderstorms will begin to develop in the valley today.

Upper level trough continues to swing in to the Northstate this morning and afternoon.

Rapid clearing behind the cold front will allow for warming of the valley surface and destabilizing the lower 10k ft of the atmosphere.  Instability parameters put the Sac. valley right in values capable of developing thunderstorms.

Another thing to keep a close eye on is shearing wind with height.  Enough spinning in the atmosphere ma allow for these to become strong to severe.

As always hail, frequent lightning and heavy rain will be a major concern.

For the mountains snow showers will continue to pass through today.  Thunderstorms that drift into the foothills and mountains will also put down heavy snow and graupel.

Things finally begin to calm down by Friday but a few lingering showers and thunderstorms may stick around tomorrow.

Saturday through Wednesday things clear and dry out.  Look for a gradual warming trend into next work week.
