Afternoon highs will drop drastically today compared to the warm conditions we've enjoyed all week. The main threat will be valley thunderstorms and rain and low snow in the mountains.
As we've mentioned all week this not a very wet storm. The moisture tap will be low so most of what we see in all of the Northstate will be in the scattered form. Rain showers and thunderstorms will rotate through today and parts of tomorrow.
For the mountains, scattered snow showers will increase in coverage by the late morning hours and early afternoon hours today.
Again if you pick up a couple to a few of inches of snow consider yourself on the high side. Of course if you get caught under any training in either the valley or the mountains, your totals will be locally higher.
Winds should start to shift to out of the north by tomorrow afternoon so I expect the atmosphere to begin to stabilize and shut down a lot of the activity.
We will stay quiet this weekend but afternoon highs will still be slightly below normal
