Weather Forecast: Low Snow & Valley T-Storms Still Possible Today
Redding, Chico & Red Bluff
A very cold low pressure system continues to move overhead today. Not as active this afternoon but still a chance of thunderstorms and mountain/foothill snow.
As of the mid morning hours the center of this very cold upper level low was centered right on top of the Northstate. A slight drift to the south and southeast will bring our chances of widespread snow and thunderstorms down from yesterday.
Though as I continue to look at hi-resolution wind forecast models they continue to show stronger SSE winds by the mid afternoon hours. This combined with cold, unstable air aloft and breaks in the clouds, we could be looking at thunderstorms later today.
By Saturday and Sunday things clear out and warm slightly to almost 60 degrees by the end of the weekend.
Next weather maker slides through Monday and Tuesday with a slight chance of showers.
