Friday was the peak of the warming trend we have been telling you about all week with Redding breaking the old record of 72 degrees set in 1994 with a high of 77 degrees.  It should be mentioned, however, that the downtown record is 80 degrees.

The weekend is looking fairly dry but we do have another weak storm heading our way which is expected to be here Saturday night giving us a slight chance for sprinkles/light showers throughout the night.  The valley will probably see anywhere between a trace to maybe a few hundredths of an inch of rain while the mountains could pick up a little more with snow levels above 6000 feet.

Sunday and Monday will be another transition with highs in the upper 60’s to right around 70 degrees under mostly sunny skies.  The timing of the next and stronger storm is still up in the air (no pun intended) but could be here as early as Tuesday and lasting through at least Wednesday with a chance for a few lingering showers on Thursday.  Although it will be the most rain we’ve seen in a while it’s still not the most impressive of storms but for now we’ll take what we can get.

Drier and warmer weather is expected after Thursday of next week.
