Mostly sunny today with highs near 70 degrees for the valley.  Rain and mountain snow arrive by Tuesday afternoon.

A Gulf of Alaska trough moves in during the day on Tuesday with lots of clouds, wind and rain.  Tuesday will start with patchy sun and will quickly become completely overcast with rain starting in the valley from north to south around noon.  The heaviest rain will move through Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night.  The next batch of rain will move in early Wednesday morning with lower snow levels – around 3,000ft – and gusty winds.  We'll also be on the lookout for scattered thunderstorms throughout the day on Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday will see some clearing but that’s a double edged sword.  As the clouds clear the chance for thunderstorms will greatly increase.  However subsidence on the back of the system could also shut down developing thunderstorms the later we go through Thursday afternoon.
