Weather Forecast: Mostly Sunny Today, Rain and Mtn. Snow Arrive Late Tonight

Redding, Chico & Red Bluff

POSTED: 10:25 AM Feb 06 2013

Ahead of our next cold front the valley will see afternoon highs in the 60s today.  Mountain snow and rain will approach Trinity and Siskiyou county by midnight tonight.

The NWS has already issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORYfor Trinity county which is in effect through 10:00 pm Thursday night.

This cold front will continue to push into northern California in the early morning hours, bringing rain to the valley floor.  This is not an overly wet storm and I expect most rain totals staying at or below .25" for the valley.  Anderson and north may see slightly higher totals but still less than a .50" of rain.

Snow levels could briefly drop to 2,000ft but best accumulations should stay at 2,500ft and higher.

We will also have to keep a close eye on thunderstorms Thursday and Friday with unstable air in place.

Things finally quiet down after sunset Friday evening and we will remain quiet through the extended forecast.
