The Sacramento National Weather Service office confirms that the Gerber tornado from yesterday was an EF0, with peak winds at 74 mph.  Today we can expect clear skies with much warmer afternoon highs.

NWS GERBER TORNADO REPORT

Looking back at yesterday's severe weather, the original storm that dropped the EF0 tornado occurred around 1:30 pm near Gerber.  Gerber is located just southeast of Red Bluff in Tehama county.  That same storm drifted south, regaining some strength and spin over the next hour.   The Sacramento NWS office then issued a Tornado Warning at 2:17pm for areas near Corning, right at the intersection of Tehama, Glenn and Butte county.  This Tornado warning was allowed to expire at 2:45 pm.

This was the end of any Tornado Warnings but the Sacramento National Weather Service office did issue a Severe Thunderstorm Warning at 3:54 pm.  This warning was allowed to expire early at 4:15 pm.

All of these storms dropped accumulating hail and heavy rain. By 7:00 pm all of the storms had lost all of their strong to severe signature and continued to weaken and head south.

Over the next few days we will continue to track very weak cold fronts swinging in from out of the northwest.  Tonight a weakening cold front will bring a stay flurry of snow showers to mountains off to the north, mainly confined to Siskiyou county.

Expect highs in the low 60s by tomorrow.

Our next cold front will arrive by Friday evening.  Though much wetter than tonight's front this will likely only bring showers to the mountains.  Though we can't rule out a stray shower for the valley floor.

We'll clear out Saturday afternoon with northerly winds picking up Saturday and into Sunday.
