Weather Forecast: Near Record Highs Today, Wet Weather Returns Next Week
Redding, Chico & Red Bluff
Today we will see widespread mid to upper 70s for the valley floor. Redding & Red Bluff's record highs today are both 80 degrees, close but we'll likely fall short. Chico's record high is 79 degrees, one city that may come close to their record.
After our warm and sunny weather today, clouds will start to stream in Saturday morning and afternoon ahead of our next weak cold front. What was once looking like a chance of seeing some valley showers, is now trending much drier for Saturday night. We are now only expecting scattered showers for the mountains with the possibility of a stray shower making it to the valley floor.
The pattern turns active Tuesday afternoon and evening for the Northstate. Our first decent wet storm in over a month will drop into the Northstate. The initial cold front should bring a decent band of moderate to heavy precipitation. Models are trending from .40" to over an 1.00" of rain for the valley floor. Snow levels will likely drop considerably behind the initial cold front too as cold air spills in.
Wednesday and Thursday will bring just scattered valley showers and mountain snow. IF we see enough clearing and daytime heating we may even see a few thunderstorms too.
