Weather Forecast: Unsettled Through Early Next Week

By Mike KruegerThe rain moved out by Thursday morning for most of us leaving behind mostly cloudy skies and warmer temperatures. The clouds will stick around on Friday but we’re not expecting our next chance for showers until the evening hours in the valley. Trinity County will see the showers a little earlier in the day. The amount of rain we see won’t be nearly as impressive as the rain we saw on Wednesday and Wednesday night with less than a tenth of an inch for most of us. Snow levels should be between 4500 and 5500 feet.
As a trough of low pressure approaches from the Gulf of Alaska we’ll see a continued chance for isolated showers throughout the weekend and even into Monday of next week. However, this trough of low pressure will have limited moisture to work with so the main impact will be partly to mostly cloudy skies and a chance for a passing sprinkle of light shower. At this point, I wouldn’t cancel any outdoor plans this weekend just be sure to bring something warm to wear. Snow levels on Saturday are expected to be around 4000 feet dropping to as low as 2000 feet by Sunday. The same applies for the mountains as any snow we do see will be on the light side.
We are expecting a warming trend next week with highs climbing back to the low 60’s by Wednesday.
