High pressure has taken control of our weather pattern allowing most of us in the Northstate to warm up significantly.  There was a big difference in temperatures throughout the valley on Wednesday with Redding topping out at 71 degrees while Chico and Red Bluff were closer to the mid to upper 50’s.  This is because Redding was feeling the effects of a strong north wind which compresses and heats up as it moves down the mountains.  Red Bluff and Chico didn’t get in on those winds.  In the mountains there was a big spread in the temperatures with a high of 26 degrees in Alturas to 56 degrees in Weaverville.

This ridge of high pressure will stick around through at least the middle of next week keeping our highs in the 50’s and 60’s in the valley before it starts to break up.  At this point it still looks like mainly dry weather with a slight chance for showers by the end of next week.
