Weather Forecast: Weak Storm Brings Low Mountain Snow Today
Redding, Chico & Red Bluff
A weak Gulf of Alaska low will bring a quick burst of rain for the valley and lowering snow levels throughout the day and night for the mountains.
For Trinity and Siskiyou county, rain and snow will slowly move in and pick up in intensity and coverage through the rest of the morning and into this afternoon.
For the rest of the Northstate precipitation will slowly creep in by the late morning hours and around lunch time.
As mentioned all week, this is not a powerful or very wet storm. So we're expecting well under a .25 of rain for the valley floor and light snow accumulations for the mountains and possible foothills. Besides the typical high elevations that see the highest snow accumulations with every winter storm, Chester looks to be a hot spot for maybe a quick 6".
Cold air will trickle in behind the initial cold front, continually dropping snow levels into tonight.
The coldest air, however, will arrive after majority of the moisture has exited off to the east and southeast.
Beyond today look for very cold mornings and slightly below average afternoon highs.
