Weather Forecast: Weak Storm Moves Through This Weekend
Redding, Chico, Red Bluff
The area of high pressure that has kept us mainly sunny and mild this week will give way to a weak storm that is approaching from the Pacific. The clouds will be on the increase on Saturday but the rain isn’t expected to arrive until the late afternoon to early evening hours in the valley. Trinity County could see rain as early as 1:00 to 2:00 in the afternoon with snow levels starting off between 2500 and 3500 feet dropping to as low as 1500 feet Saturday night.
The main storm will pass Saturday night with just a few lingering showers early Sunday morning. This is not a very strong storm and the valley will most likely see somewhere between a quarter to a half of an inch of rain with 2 to 5 inches of snow mainly above 3000 feet. This will still be enough snow to possibly create delays or even chain requirements on some of the mountain passes so be sure to check the latest road conditions.
Next week is looking mostly dry with highs mainly in the low 50’s under partly to mostly cloudy skies. There may be a few sprinkles from time to time but don’t count on much if anything at all.
