The first two days from the series of storms moving through the Northstate have had quite an impact on many people from shoveling snow off walkways to chain requirements and highway closures greeting holiday travelers.  The Shasta Skipark opened on Friday but it was next to impossible to get up there.  Although there will still be plenty of chain requirements on Saturday for most of the mountain highways we may actually catch a break Saturday afternoon before the last in a series of storms moves through.  Bottom line, if you plan on travelling in the mountains this weekend be sure to check the latest road conditions before heading out.

ROAD CONDITIONS

Redding and as far south as Cottonwood got to see some snowflakes Friday morning but most of the accumulation was on cars and grassy areas.  Redding will most likely see a rain/snow mix Friday night into Saturday morning.  Otherwise, we’ve got another round of heavy rain in parts of the valley and heavy snow in the mountains at least through early Saturday morning before it tapers off a bit through the afternoon.

The third and final storm will move through late Saturday night into Sunday morning giving us our last round of heavy rain and mountain snow.

We will see a break from the wet weather on Monday before we see another chance for showers on Christmas day.
