Our next winter storm is moving in as advertised. We can expect gusty valley winds, heavy rain and heavy mountain snow.
Strong south winds will pick up this afternoon and evening ahead of the main cold front. Expect wind gusts over 30 mph for the valley. Highest winds appear to occur in Tehama county late tonight.
Mountain snow levels will start at around 4,500ft and continually drop tonight and through the overnight period. We can expect high snow accumulations (12"+) above 4,000ft for northern Shasta and Trinity county and Southern Siskiyou county.
Rain totals for the valley will run anywhere from .50"-1.00" with locally higher totals where thunderstorms develop.
Expect thunderstorm development Wednesday afternoon, as the coldest most unstable airmass sets up over the Northstate.
We may still have enough fuel leftover for some thunderstorms on Thursday too.
We should begin to dry out by Friday and contiue to warmup heading into the weekend.
