Temperatures rise as high pressure builds.

A very strong area of high pressure will start to move into the region this week kicking temperatures way above normal.  Normal highs in the valley are right around 80°, but most areas will see temperatures peaking into the mid to upper 90s and some lucky folks could top 100 Wednesday and Thursday.  The good news is that this isn’t a very early start to summer.  The heat, while intense, will be short lived and will subside going into the weekend.  Expect the highest temperatures to be in the Chico, Willows and Orland area of the Sacramento Valley with cooler (relatively) highs coming in the farther north you get in the valley.
