Jan. 3 Weather Forecast

The weekend will be spectacular although we will continue to have basically the same weather we've been having for about one month. That means temperatures will remain around ten-fifteen degrees above normal during the day with chilly mornings and patchy frost likely. It should also be breezy at times this weekend, especially Saturday and in mountain canyons.

By next week, finally, a couple of weak systems are expected to break down the nearly permanent high pressure ridge and give us our first chance of precipitation in almost a month!

The first system looks to come in Tuesday. It has the potential to being about .10" of rain to the valley floor and .25" or more to the mountains. Snow levels should come in around 4000-5000'. Another weak storm is potentially poised to come in behind the first one. Any rain and snow that falls from these very weak storms will not ease our drought at all. But, never-the-less, this does finally represent a much needed change in our weather.
