Rain showers remain through the rest of the week.

The NorthState will continue to see off and on rain showers throughout this coming week.  Most of them will remain light and brief but a few areas, mainly north and west of Redding could see a training effect set up with higher precipitation amounts under those training showers.  The best way to describe the next five or six days is a “mix of sun and clouds.”  Every day through Thursday of next week has a chance for some rain to fall in the valley and mountains.  There even are some heavier bands as weak storm systems move off the ocean.

For Sunday, we’ll see scattered showers with the best chance for rain being the northwest corner of the Sacramento Valley.  Old Shasta, Whiskeytown and the City of Shasta Lake have the shot at seeing some decent rain activity come tomorrow.

Monday night into Tuesday a weak cold front will pass overhead and will squeeze out a lot of the moisture in the atmosphere.  We could see some embedded thunderstorms with this front, but mostly just some brief heavier rain and a few gusty winds.  Tuesday will benefit with clearer weather and warmer temperatures as the sun peaks through the clouds for a decent amount of time on Tuesday.

The third and final system to move in comes Wednesday night into Thursday morning.  That’s when another frontal boundary will move onshore bringing with it still more rain.  This one won’t be quite as sharp as the Monday/Tuesday front so I’m not expecting any possible thunderstorms but there will be more moisture associated with it so rainfall totals are likely to be higher.  The rain will depart early Thursday morning and the rest of the day will be devoted to clearing the skies for some beautiful weather coming in Friday and Saturday.
