The Delta breeze began to work its way up the valley floor last night, helping to cool off most of the valley floor.  Valley highs today will only make it up to the low to mid 90s.

The peak of the cooling trend will be on Thursday and Friday with highs only reaching the upper 80s which is actually the norm for this time of year.  It will be a little warmer by the weekend with highs back in the low 90s.

The cold front that will bring cooler afternoon highs Thursday and Friday will also bring gusty winds to the mountains.

RED FLAG WARNINGS and FIRE WEATHER WATCHES have been posted for mountains to the north and east.

The forecast gets a little tricky next week because there is a big difference between our two main long range models (GFS & Euro).  The Euro wants to give us another ridge of high pressure which would mean the return of the triple digits.  The GFS wants to keep a series of storms riding to our north keeping our temperatures in the low to 90s.  We’ll keep you posted.  Until then, enjoy the cooler weather this week.
