It was the tale of two cities once again today as Redding did reach the triple digits while Chico only made it up to the mid 90s.  The reason for the difference is Redding had north winds drying things out and warming them up while Chico had south winds keeping them slightly cooler.

High pressure will continue to be the dominant feature through the weekend and will actually get stronger.  This means we will see a gradual increase in our temperatures peaking on Sunday with highs between 104 and 107 degrees.

We are also expecting gusty north winds starting late in the day Saturday and lasting through Monday.  This is why the National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the Sacramento Valley and surrounding foothills from Saturday night Through Monday afternoon.  Click here for more details.

The same ridge of high pressure will start to slowly break down through next week but it will still be hot to start out the week with highs in the triple digits.  By the end of next week we’ll see our temperatures drop to the low to mid 90s.
